約翰霍普金斯大學研究動物資源中心副主任 Eric Hutchinson 認為,即使疫情真的到了無法控制的地步,大部分的實驗動物都可以在僅供給食物和水、不清洗籠子的情況下,安穩存活 14 天。耶魯大學動物資源中心副主任 Peter Smith 則說,若真的不幸有一半的動物照護人員停工,他們仍可以進行基本的動物保健。
