在前篇關於健保資料庫的簡介裡，有提到研究者可以依其需求，串連散布在健保資料庫內不同檔案間的資料。而有些研究，不僅使用健保資料庫的資料，也可能串連其他非健康類資料庫，甚至相同的研究方法也可以適用在除了健保資料庫以外，任何資料庫間的交叉比對，而這個部分要介紹的，即為以申請不同資料庫資料，與在其間串連的「健康資料加值應用」。
