巨石強森：從摔角選手到電影明星
Every actor’s road to fame is different, but Dwayne Johnson’s path has been one of the most unique. Over a career that has taken him from the squared circle to the silver screen, “The Rock” has entertained countless fans and done his best to give back.
Born in California in 1972, Johnson quickly became familiar with the family business: professional wrestling. Both his father and grandfather were wrestling stars, and even his grandmother was involved in wrestling as a promoter. Early on, he participated in football, wrestling, and track at schools in both New Zealand and the United States. After his studies concluded, Johnson decided to play professional football in Canada.
Unfortunately, Johnson was cut from his football team just two months into his debut season. Soon after, he followed in his father’s—and grandfather’s—footsteps. He joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1996 as a “sports entertainer,” a term that refers to the WWF’s wrestling matches being more like performance art than actual fights. Fans disliked Johnson at first, but once he assumed the character of “The Rock,” he turned into one of the WWF’s biggest stars. In fact, one of Johnson’s signature phrases, “Smackdown,” became so popular that it was added to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary as a new word!

強森在一九七二年出生於加州，他很快就熟悉了家族事業：職業摔角。他父親和外祖父都是摔角明星，甚至外祖母也承辦過摔角比賽。早期，他在紐西蘭和美國的學校參加了足球、摔角和徑賽運動。學業完成後，強森決定在加拿大踢職業足球。
可惜，強森加入足球隊第一個賽季才兩個月就被踢出球隊。不久後，他追隨父親和外祖父的腳步。他在一九九六年加入了世界摔角聯盟（WWF）成為一名「體育表演員」，這個詞指的是世界摔角聯盟的摔角比賽比較像是表演藝術，而不是實際搏鬥。摔角迷一開始不喜歡強森，但他一擔任「巨石強森」這個角色後就成了世界摔角聯盟最著名的明星之一。事實上，強森的口頭禪之一Smackdown（擊倒）變得非常熱門，以致於被加進韋伯字典成為新字。
