These books tell the story of He Wu-sheng, who bears the burden of being a bastard son. He witnesses the death of his biological father Yu Jing at the hands of Shi Fei-hong, who employs the A Bi (or Avici) technique of sword fighting. Wanting to avenge his father’s death, He Wu-sheng himself studies this method of sword fighting but consequently suffers every day when the flow of his qi and blood goes into reverse. Later, He sees the ninth emissary of the Avici Hell reborn in a fire. As he begins to experience representations of greed, stupidity, foolish attachment and anger in the realm of martial arts, he comes to the profound conclusion that the Avici Hell—that last and deepest of the eight hot hells— might in fact be the world of men….

1958年生，復興商工畢業，台灣唯一一個成功打入日本主流市場的漫畫家，他的作品在漫畫迷的心中已經被列為經典。代表作有《戰士黑豹》、《鬥神》、《刺客列傳》、《裝甲元帥》、《阿鼻劍》、《東周英雄傳》（獲頒日本漫畫家協會特別賞）、《深邃美麗的亞細亞》。
Chen Uen was born in Taiwan in 1958, and is one of Taiwan’s most celebrated manga artists. He Works in English in clude Legends of Assassins and Abi-Sword. In 1991, Chen’s work own him an award from the Japanese Cartoonits’ Association for his work To Shu eiyuden ; he was the first foreigner to receive this honor.
馬利（郝明義）
1956年出生於韓國，1978年台大商學系國際貿易組畢業，大塊文化董事長，與「網路與書」發行人。
